(Miami, November 14, 2007) – Further demonstrating its strong commitment to its community, Tamiami Automotive Group, one of the top volume Chrysler Jeep® dealers in the Southeast, teamed up with the Jackson Memorial Foundation’s philanthropic program, the International Kids Fund, in an effort to provide a 2005 Dodge Caravan to a family in critical need.

Tamiami Chrysler Jeep donated a minivan to the LaFe family, whose son Michael suffers from a critical illness. Although they reside in Tampa, the LaFe family was in Miami seeking an essential medical surgery for Michael, under Dr. Barth Green of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, when their minivan broke down. The joint efforts of Tamiami Automotive Group and the International Kids Fund made it possible for the LaFe family to receive a new minivan so that they may concentrate their thoughts and efforts on what matters most, the health of their son, Michael.

The International Kids Fund is a philanthropic program of the Jackson Memorial Foundation, whose main goal is to raise and maintain sufficient funds that will enable critically ill children to receive necessary treatment as soon as possible. Through the efforts of the International Kids Fund and its over $1 million raised to date, hundreds of seriously ill children in need of urgent care have been able to receive proper medical treatment from specialists at Holtz Children’s Hospital, located in the Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, Florida.

Since its establishment as a privately held business in 1989, Tamiami Automotive Group has not only been recognized for its diligent commitment to its customers, but also for demonstrating a notable dedication to the community. While Tamiami Chrysler Jeep has been involved with donations to multiple charities and organizations for many years now, the dealership has recently proved its commitment to improving the well-being of the environment through its conservation efforts with its relocation and expansion to become Chrysler’s first-ever ‘green’ certified dealership in the nation. Slated to open in late 2008, the Tamiami Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealership will be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified building upon completion. The new 18-acre dealership, located at 7090 Coral Way, in Miami, will be one of Florida’s most energy-efficient businesses, with numerous water conservation and energy management systems, and a design that relies on natural light rather than artificial.

“I like to think that Tamiami Chrysler is setting the bar for the role businesses should play in our community,” said Carlos Planas, Chairman of Tamiami Automotive Group. “Whether it’s through granting donations to those in critical need or being the first dealership to take conservation efforts, it is imperative that we encourage others to follow our lead in order to improve the well-being of our community.” Tamiami Automotive Group continues to find new ways to further distinguish itself as one of the country’s premier Chrysler Jeep dealers while at the same time stressing the importance of giving back to one’s community.
