| Estimated Cost : $53,000 |

Karlo needs immediate surgery to correct the Scoliosis that has already severely deformed his spine, causing extreme back pain and respiratory problems. Unless corrected now, Karlo’s condition will progressively worsen, placing him at even greater risk of respiratory and cardiac arrest. Corrective surgery is expensive and out of the reach of his family who have exhausted all their financial resources attempting to access the surgery and follow up treatments that will allow their son to look and feel like a normal teenager. Your donation will prevent further disfigurement of this young man’s body and give him back his health. |

| DONOR SPOTLIGHT: OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY |
A child from Naples solicits prayers as well as money for IKF kids from Haiti, Dahana David and Marc Arthur Charles, kids young Brandon Turner has never met. Julia Martinez, a child with a Cochlear implant that allows her to hear raises funds in her school so that IKF kid Noelia Carcamo can receive “the same implant” at Holtz Children’s Hospital and the same experience of entering the hearing world. A couple from the Agape prayer group at St. John Neuman work to raise money for Guadalupe Torres, then extend their generosity by paying the balance due for Fermin Gallo’s heart surgery. Employees at Fairfield Resorts generously dedicated their fundraising efforts to our IKF kids and a homeless gentleman emptied his pockets for a child he had seen featured on television. This is our circle of IKF friends, supporters and donors. This is a donor group that encompasses a diversity ranging from school children to corporate CEOs; from senior citizens to young couples with children of their own. Professionals from all fields, retirees and homemakers are all united in their determination to make a difference in the lives of children who come to IKF for help. We are deeply grateful that the work we do inspires such universal generosity from so many diverse and caring individuals. |

DISNEY DOES IT BIG FOR IKF KIDS:
MICKEY & MINNIE OPEN NEW DISNEY ROOM |
Thanks to a “Minnie Grant” from the Walt Disney Company, children receiving care at Holtz Children’s Hospital now have a cheerful, spacious new waiting room. The cash grant from Disney, along with a helping hand from Disney VoluntEARS, transformed the former non-descript space into a brand new “Finding Nemo” - themed wonderland equipped with a TV, DVD, Mickey Mouse Computer, books, toys and all the other furnishings that make a hospital visit more comfortable and less scary. This is the new Disney Pediatric Waiting Area for children in need of ambulatory services.
According to Disney Latin America’s Director, Regional Communications & Public Relations Carol Nicolau, and IKF Chairman Rosy Cancela, “this is only the beginning.” Thank you Disney, Minnie and Mickey and all the fantastic VoluntEARS! |

| IKF - SUCCESS STORY |

| Name: Dahanna David |
| Age: 15 years old |
| Country: Haiti |
| Estimated Cost: $25,000 |
|
|
For the first time in her life, 15-year old Dahana David thinks she is pretty when she looks in the mirror. The tumor that threatened her life and severely deformed her face has been removed. Dahana, a teenager from Haiti was brought to Miami and to the attention of IKF by twin sisters Gina and Ginette Eugene. Without their intervention and fundraising efforts, Dahana would have died a painful death within a few years, as the tumor grew larger. Now, following nine-hours of surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, she looks “pretty” and looks forward to a normal life with all the enthusiasm of a typical teenager. Dahana’s surgery and follow-up care was funded by donations from throughout the South Florida community, especially those in the Naples area. This is representative of the mission and work carried out by IKF. |
